Schools for Home Science

     There are (7) schools for home science.

 

 Location

     Myitkyina, Mandalay, Zepingyi, Taungoo, Yangon, Mawlamyein and Pathein

 

Enrolling criteria

    The enrolling criteria are as follow;

     (a)    Must be a nationality of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar

     (b)   Between the age of (16) to (45)

     (c)    Both parents must to be nationality

     (d)   Good proficiency in Burmese

     (e)    Following the rules and regulations of the training centre        

 

Times of conducted trainings

Trainings are conducting (7) times per year. 

Youth Welfare Services

 Youth Welfare Services

          In implementing youth welfare services, there are two main components namely; preventive and protective measure. As preventive measure, there are (70) Youth Centers established in States and Regions with the aim not to become juvenile delinquent. A total number of (7584) youths involve in the activities of these youth centers to be able to prevent wasting their time and spend their leisure time usefully.

Operating the Residential Nurseries

Objectives

-      To nurture the 0-8 aged children lack of guardian and socially    disadvantaged for their holistic development

-      To take care of the children through Early Childhood Development essence

-      To continue nurturing the over 8 years old children who are weak in physical and mental development

-      To provide adoption service in line with Child Law in order to enjoy and a normal family life

-      To take measure to provide primary education for 5 to 8 years old children

Developing policies

     Regarding preschool education, Preschool Curriculum and Syllabus, Guideline of caring for children under three years old and teachers guide on preschool Curriculum were developed and published by the Department. These books are utilized as guideline for preschool education.

Community based Services

Since the center-based child care service was not sufficient to meet the all-round development of the children in the country, community based child care and development service was initiated in 2007. In collaboration with UNICEF(Myanmar), the department started operating community based mother circles for all-round development of the children under the age of three.

Asia-Pacific Regional Conference on Ageing

        In the conference of Melborne, Australia in 2010, Help Age International proposed Myanmar for hosting the Asia-Pacific Regional Conference on Ageing 2012 since Myanmar was implementing home care services for elderly people as the ROK- ASEAN home care project. The department put it forward to the President Office through the Minister’s office. As per the permission from the President office, the conference was conducted at the Sedona Hotel from May   (7 to 12), 2012. 120 Delegates, experts and older people who are working on this field from 28 countries in the Region were presenting in the conference.

Commemorating of the International Day of Older People

In accordance with the resolution of the 52nd General Assembly of the United Nations and the recommendation of the 35th meeting of the United Nations Commission for Socioeconomic Development, the UNESCAP decided to commemorate the International Day of Older people on every 1st October with a motto “International Years of Older Persons towards a Society for all Ages”.
